At our central city location the Lower Gallery leads visitors through an exploration of Te Tau Ihu, top of the South Island from Tasman Bay to Golden Bay. This treasure-filled exhibition focuses on the region's fascinating history and identity, offering opportunity for hours of discovery. The Upper Gallery is reserved for changing exhibitions with local, topical or international themes. A vibrant stained-glass window featuring New Zealand's unique creatures and plants may be admired from the top floor.

RESEARCH FACILITY . Isel Park, Stoke This site is where staff develop and care for our regional taonga and treasures, including one of New Zealand's most significant photographic collections. Extensive historical archives and library resources are stored here. Trained staff are available to assist visitors with research.
